Apéro Digital is a multistakeholder outreach activity effort organized by the BRIDGE Lab of UZH, and the Responsible AI Innovation Group at ZHAW. The aim is to bridge the gap between sectors to drive impactful change, including through co-created infographic artefacts that illustrate key takeaways from the discussions. For the first two events, such infographics have now been published.
The first Apéro Digital event was organized in collaboration with the Swiss Digital Initiative (SDI) , addressing the challenge of «Certifying Trust in AI systems» with respect to trustworthiness, safety, and reliability of these systems. The event featured inputs from actors in the AI certification domain, such as CertX and Modulos, and presented the new version of the Digital Trust Labels (DTL) developed by the SDI.
It became a curated space for AI innovators, developers, operators, and experts in legal and regulatory affairs, to exchange and share experiences acquired from their development approaches for AI certification. The discussion yielded specific learnings on the perceived benefits of AI certification, the need for certifying both the organizational and its processes and products, and the actors that must be involved in the certification process.
The second Apéro Digital event was organized in collaboraiton with the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW) and the Swissmem, focusing on the theme of «Innovation Strategies for Switzerland» with respec to cross-sectoral collaboration in R&D for the Swiss manufacturing industry. During the event, a joint report develoepd by the SATW and the Swissmem was released and discussed about among experts from academia, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, and the business world. Conversations underscored the urgent need for better matchmaking tools to connect innovation players, stronger international partnerships, and enhanced support for fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. Additionally, it is envisioned that fosering a culture of innovation across sectors through strategic and forward-looking investments can unlock the innovation potential and strengthen the industry’s competitiveness.
The Apéro Digital series will continue connecting innovators, domain experts, policy makers, thought leaders, impact catalysts, and civil soiety representatives around topics related to digital transformation, human-centered tech research, and value-based innovation.
