“VOLT VR” was awarded the silver prize by “AVRiL 2024 – Gelungene VR/AR-Lernszenarien”. The competition, organized by the “VR/AR Learning” working group of the German Informatics Society (GI), recognizes innovative learning concepts that integrate virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) into educational contexts in an outstanding way.
“VOLT VR” is an immersive learning environment that was developed specifically for the training of prospective electricians. The jury particularly highlighted the project’s ability to realistically simulate dangerous situations. This enables learners to gain valuable experience in a safe environment. In addition, “VOLT VR” impressed with its consistent application of didactic principles that lead to a demonstrably effective learning experience. The positive effect of the learning environment was confirmed in field studies, which showed that the use of “VOLT VR” resulted in significant learning progress compared to traditional methods.
Another aspect that convinced the jury was the advanced stage of development of the project. “VOLT VR” is already being integrated into standard training and is also being used commercially. This combination of practical applicability, innovative use of VR technologies and sound scientific validation was recognized with the AVRiL 2024 Silver Award.
Congratulations to the entire VOLT VR team!
“Volt VR” was developed as part of the project “Virtual reality as a learning venue for basic vocational training”, which was funded in the 1st project call in the DIZH innovation program.
