Writing difficulties are one of the most common learning disorders in school children. These difficulties have far-reaching effects on success in school and social participation.
To tackle this challenge, an interdisciplinary team from the ZHAW and ZHdK developed an innovative training method: a serious game aimed at improving graphomotor skills. This method combines scientifically sound approaches with playful elements to make the learning process both effective and entertaining.
The serious game is language-independent, making it versatile. Initial tests with primary school children have shown that the game is intuitive to use, sustainably increases children’s motivation and measurably improves their writing skills. Thanks to the targeted combination of accuracy and speed, the game offers a direct sense of achievement that encourages children to practise regularly and with pleasure.
