“We need time…” On the acceptance of urban drones

Drones could become an integral part of urban air mobility. However, their successful integration into urban environments depends not only on public acceptance, but also on the perspectives of the experts who shape their development, use and regulation.

However, their successful integration into urban environments depends not only on public acceptance, but also on the perspectives of the experts shaping their development, deployment and regulation, on which DSI members Ning Wang and Nico Mutzner with Karl Blanchet have published the article “‘We Need Time…:’ An Expert Survey on Societal Acceptance of Urban Drones” in the journal ‘Science and Public Policy’. The article looks at experts’ views on urban drones in order to expand existing knowledge through a better understanding of the acceptance factors and associated challenges.

In particular, trust in the various institutions that use drones varies, while informing the public to raise awareness and educate them is becoming increasingly important.
