Researchers at the ZHAW and ZHdK want to make the use of exergames in physiotherapy better known. These interactive movement games can usefully supplement traditional rehabilitation programs by increasing motivation and the training effect. Especially in sports rehabilitation, for example after a cruciate ligament rupture, exergames help to improve physical and cognitive skills at the same time.
One example is the game “The Dome”, which was developed by the ZHAW together with the ZHdK and Sphery AG. It challenges patients with targeted movement tasks and adapts to their individual needs. Training takes place in the Exercube, an interactive cube that records movements and provides direct feedback.
To raise awareness of exergames, ZHAW and ZHdK employees are developing the ExerUp portal, with a website, workshops and events for professionals and those affected.
The project is funded in the 1. Outreach Call.
