Every day there are developments that influence our lives: new forms of work, rising rents, the energy crisis, the climate catastrophe and much more. But how can these changes be recorded and understood in order to make informed decisions for the future?
The Public Data Lab is a joint project of the Statistical Office of the Canton of Zurich, Opendata.ch, the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of the Arts. In this interdisciplinary approach, new indicators are being developed to make social changes measurable and comprehensible.
The website provides information on the four lighthouse projects, which deal with topics such as precarious work, social disadvantage and green spaces. In addition, two PhD positions are currently on offer:
- PhD to record new forms of precarious work: PhD position in labor geography 80%
- PhD on the development of a spatial index to record social disadvantage: PhD position Geocomputation 80 %
In addition, there is a blog on the website that will regularly report on progress and activities, as well as information on events.
The Public Data Lab is funded in the 2nd Structure Call in the Innovation Program.
