Performance by Joaquina Salgado (Artist in Residence from Pro Helvetia South America)
DERIVA is an audiovisual performance that uses motion capture technology to modify image and sound in real-time. In collaboration with sound artist Violeta Garcia, the performance features a group of digital beings animated 100% by human breath. As they walk in loops through fictional environments, they recompose digital life on a pilgrimage towards unknown landscapes. The piece seeks to explore the forms virtually contained within an organism and how they unfold unexpectedly over time.
