Open, Distance, and Digital Education (ODDE) – Mapping the Field Towards a Research Agenda
21. November 2023 @ 13:00 - 15:00
You are invited to the keynote and closing ceremony of the Symposium ‘Approaches to Research in Higher Education Teaching and Learning’ where we will have explored the following three main topics: theory-practice, assessment, and digitalization.
In the keynote, Olaf Zawacki-Richter will provide an overview of research activities and discuss potential research priorities in digital education theory and practice. The speaker will discuss the field of Open, Distance, and Digital Education (ODDE) using the 3M-Framework, which categorizes research areas into macro, meso, and micro levels. The keynote will outline a six-step process for creating a research agenda in any discipline, emphasizing quantifying and evaluating existing research, identifying new research needs, and prioritizing them. A review of 576 systematic reviews in ODDE over the last five years and the potential research priorities in digital education will be discussed.
At the closing of our symposium, we will summarize our discussions on the three main themes and we will host a panel discussion to highlight the most resonant ideas, define central themes for future conversations, and uncover connections forged during our exploration of these topics. This closing ceremony offers valuable insights for the future of the higher education research discourse.
