The Algorithm Resistance – Writing the Rules for Social Media & AI in Public Debates
April 16 @ 17:30 - 19:00

What are the influences of online platforms on democracy and deliberation? What are the implications of the Big Tech for policy-making? And how should these aspects be integrated in the upcoming law on online platforms in Switzerland?
Apéro Digital is launching its 4th event, in collaboration with AlgorithmWatch CH and Dezentrum, on the topic Regulatory Pathways for Online Platforms in Switzerland. Together with AI experts and media specialists at different Federal Offices, we will explore the influence of Big Tech and AI on democracy, deliberation and elections through participatory and co-creation approaches. The event offers a curated space for technology developers and operators, civil society representatives, public authorities, as well as ethical, legal, and regulatory experts to exchange insights and share experiences, and to identify opportunities and challenges for navigating the regulatory terrain forward. Our goal is raising awareness of online platforms and their impact on society, and empowering the community with enhanced understanding about collective actions leading to a prosperous digital future. The event will conclude with an exquisite Apéro Riche for networking.
